Hunting Ban Proposal - Gimli

for Valhalla Provincial Park

by Peter Winter

Currently hunting is allowed around Gimli Peak in Valhalla Provincial Park. This has created some conflicts between climbers and hunters. One case that reportedly involved a shooting of a mountain goat close to some climbers.
However, there is a proposal to ban hunting in the Mulvey Basin/Gimli Area but the deadline for comments on this proposal is on Friday Dec 9. The following URL provides a chance to make comments on-line. The process is not simple but please take the time to create and receive an account and then fill in the comment form.
