Regions - Vancouver Island - North - Nanaimo River "The Sunny Side"

Access to the Sunny Side, on the north side of the river, has been much enhanced by clean up and trail work at the November 2004 Adopt-a-Crag, which was a great success. Over 40 volunteers removed more than a tonne of garbage, and did a lot of work to build and fortify the trail. The pile of garbage almost blocked the view of the volunteers, in the ‘trophy photo'. Thanks to Greg Sorenson and his helpers for all their work organizing the event, and to all the donors of draw prizes for the volunteers.

Adopt A Crag 2008

for Nanaimo River "The Sunny Side"

written by Greg Sorensen

A trail building week-end was held on September 27th - 28th. Volunteers arrived @ 9:00am and work commenced on gathering supplies such as logs, Bark mulch, Gravel, and rocks. These were all carried down to the first staging area. The logs were stripped of their bark and made ready for the trails. The entrance was also finished and just needs some bark mulch spread on the stairs which will be done in the coming weeks. The trail was then continued past The newly developed "Buzz Wall" heading towards "Pooh Wall" . We now have a large amount of supplies to carry us through the winter. New routes will be arriving over the winter as well.
