Hello all, Climbing season has arrived and with it the annual Eldred Valley Adopt-a-Keg, Blue Sky Weekend. This years event will be Held Friday May 6,2011 until Sunday May 8,2011. Come prepared to camp, climb, do a little trail work and enjoy the festivities.
Where: Milepost 34 Goat Lake Main, in the climbers camp under the blue tarp
When: May 6-8, 2011

Schedule of events: Friday evening, The fire is lit and festivities begin.
Saturday, weather permitting, Climbing
Saturday evening, Salmon Barbeque and potluck dinner, The keg is tapped.
Sunday, Psyche slab trail maintenance, cleanup and departure

Greetings all, climbing season is here! and with it time to invite you all on behalf of the Powell River Climbing Comunity to the 9th annual Eldred River Adopt-a-Crag /Blue Sky Weekend. The event will be held from May 14-16 2010 under the blue tarp at mile 34 in the Eldred Valley. Come prepared to camp,climb,do trail work and indulge in some serious fun! this years trail project is the rebuilding of the psyche slab approach trail obliterated by power line construction
Friday 14- Campfire is lit.
Saturday15(weather permiting) rockclimbing followed by potluck wild salmon barbeque
Sunday16 trail work

Eldred valley Adopt-A-Crag

The time has come to invite you all to the eighth annual Eldred valley Adopt-a-crag/Blue sky weekend. This years event will be held on the Victoria day weekend May 15-18 under the big Tarp at the mile 34 Climbers camp in the Eldred. Saturday night will be the focus of events with a potluck feast and festivities. Sunday will be a trail maintenance day. Come self sufficient to camp, climb, trail-build, eat, drink and be merry.

Power Line construction in the Eldred is in full swing The right of way has been cleared of timber. This has created no major problems for climbers. Please respect all warning signs and equipment working.

Higgyland threatened

Higgyland is threatened by real-estate development. Discussion is ongoing between climbers, the developer and the City to find a solution that allows climbing.

Development plan

A development plan was submitted by the landowner but rejected by the regional district. A new plan will be submitted by the landowner. Both parties are aware of climbers interest in this beautiful oceanside area.

Eldred Adopt-a-crag

The seventh annual Eldred adopt-a-crag was held on the May long weekend. Again a fun and successful event. 23 volunteers showed up and repaired a section of the psyche slab trail damaged by rockfall. Work was also done on the B-branch bouldering trail. Everyone also enjoyed excellent climbing weather. Special thanks to Cascade Designs for providing draw prizes for the volunteers. Thanks also go out to Kiewitt and Sons for making an ongoing effort to accommodate the climber traffic.
